About Tiremason
Tiremason is a set of precision calculators for tires, gears, and fuel, built and maintained by Nan Liang. The premise is simple: automotive math is full of rules of thumb that everyone quotes and nobody sources — the "3% rule," the "336 constant," the "AWD 0.75 inch line." This site exists to put every formula on the page, source every threshold, and let you audit the math instead of trusting it.
What makes it different
- Formulas printed on every page. The same engine that powers the UI shows its work — diameter formulas, the 336 RPM constant, the 235.21 US-mpg↔L/100km conversion.
- Thresholds with sources. Where the community disagrees — 3% versus 5% tire difference — the disagreement is shown, not hidden behind one verdict.
- Nothing leaves your browser. Every calculation runs client-side. There is no account, no telemetry, no server.
Who maintains it
Tiremason is written and maintained by Nan Liang. Corrections and evidence are welcome — if a threshold here contradicts your service manual or your measured data, write to support@tiremason.com with the source and the page will be corrected.
A note on safety
These calculators are educational tools. Fitment, gearing, and drivetrain decisions carry real mechanical risk — verify safety-critical changes with a qualified tire or driveline professional before driving.
